Boasting a rich history of caregiving, the 89-year-old site was first known as St Anne’s Nursing Home, and then Mercy Hospital in 1996 before joining the St John of God Health Care (SJGHC) group in May 2014.

Now, 12 years later, it has been welcomed into the public health sector as part of EMHS.

With Mt Lawley Hospital coming into the fold, the Royal Perth Bentley Group (RPBG) officially becomes the Royal Perth Bentley Mount Lawley Group (RPBMLG) – an important change given the hospital will fall under the governance of RPBMLG.

The picturesque site on the banks of the beautiful Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River) has been a hive of activity in the run up to today, Tuesday 1 September.

EMHS Chief Executive Joel Gurr acknowledged the enormous program of work undertaken by the Mt Lawley Transition Program team across almost every part of our organisation.

Joel also recognised the strong collaboration with St John of God Health Care throughout the transition and warmly welcomed all staff at MLH, particularly those joining us from SJGHC.

Ben Noteboom, Executive Director of RPBMLG, said the focus now is firmly on what comes next.

“We are looking forward to building strong teams, supporting our people and continuing to deliver safe, high-quality and compassionate care for our patients and community,” he said.
